Morgans Dairy originated from Erwyd Dairy which was established in 1894. In 1947 it was taken over by Mair and Iuean Morgan from Mair’s cousin. It was then re-named as Morgans Dairy in 1975.
The business was made of 2 doorstep delivery rounds, and 2 local grocery shops. Following on from both sons joining the business, the shops were closed one after another, and the dairy delivery business expanded in to more than a home doorstep delivery service, and started delivering to wholesale customers.
The dairy is one of the few flourishing Welsh independent dairies remaining in London and continues to run from the original premises in Aspenlea Road, Fulham, and, from January 2014, a second depot opened in Surbiton, Surrey.
The philosophy of the company is to provide a high quality service and produce at competitive prices in an efficient and friendly manner. We cater for wholesale clients throughout London and Surrey ranging from coffee bars, caterers, offices, schools and restaurants.
The Morgan family have run the business since the middle of the last century, providing a valuable service to the local community in Fulham, through milk rounds and also their corner shop.
It was started by Mair and Iuean and has since passed on to their two sons, who have relocated to Surbiton, keeping strong family ties and commitment in an expanding commercial business. Their core strength has always been based around customer care and loyalty and they are proud to have long standing customers and staff.
Gareth is the longest standing member of the team, the in-house accountant for over 45 years, and is still very involved on a day to day basis, although he loves to play golf and support Fulham football club when he can. He is also a very active grandparent to two young boys.
Geraint has also been in the business for over 40 years, liaising with suppliers to ensure a smooth running supply of produce, so our customers benefit from the best possible quality at a realistic price. He is also a steady presence, who like Gareth is still able to step in last minute to make deliveries himself. He is a trustee of Ready, our chosen charity, and enjoys football, rugby and cricket, having been president of a local cricket club for ten years.
Lara is operations manager, and daughter to Geraint. Lara is usually the first point of contact for customers, and prides herself on knowing and understanding the needs of a large customer base, with attention to detail. She recognises the importance of the personal touch, and does her utmost to supply speciality produce when requested. Being closely involved with the setting up of customer accounts she is able to assist with accounts and specific arrangements for deliveries.
Hywel is our logistics manager, and has been with the company for almost twenty years. He steps in to do the rounds where necessary when holidays and sickness require a replacement driver.
He is responsible for any changes incurred by our new deliver zoning schedule, and is usually based in the office with Lara. He is Gareth’s son and father to Charlie and Oliver, who look forward to coming into work with their Dad in the school holidays.
