0.51% of our emissions comes from packaging. To reduce our environmental impact & plastic use, one of our suppliers has implemented carbon-neutral…
All our empty and unused plastic from site (empty milk bottles, containers, wrap) is recycled per week, creating new bottles and going back in to being used again rather than going to landfill. We segregate our waste and ensure that our plastic waste and cardboard is stored separately on site for collection. Any empty glass milk bottles which are ordered in for specific customers are collected from them, and returned to the manufacturer, where they are cleaned, re-sterilised and reused.
5 years ago we had solar panels installed on the roof of our head office which assists with our electricity and the running of our cold rooms. Solar energy ensures we use a renewable source of energy that is sustainable and totally inexhaustible, unlike fossil fuels that are limited. It’s a non-polluting source of energy and it doesn’t emit any greenhouse gases when producing electricity.
We aim to use all ambient products and cold products without fail, therefore we carry little stock. If we do find we have products which we may not sell before the sell by date, we donate these to our local YMCA, or Lara creates new recipes using them to share with the office team.
All our dairies are signed up to the Red Tractor Scheme and all our vans which go in to Central London are now low emissions, which is compatible with The London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) which is a traffic pollution charge scheme with the aim of reducing the exhaust gas emissions of diesel-powered commercial vehicles in London.
We are proud to be a Zero to Landfill company, working with a local waste company. As one of the UK’s first waste management companies they achieve zero waste to landfill, and we are committed to ensuring that as much waste as possible is reused, recycled or recovered and we guarantee that absolutely none of the waste we collect will end its life in a landfill site. They have secured partnerships with numerous waste processing companies to ensure that we work together to use greener, more sustainable alternatives.
